التأمل ليس هو الخيال بل هو التصور
الخيال قد يتعامل مع اشياء وهمية لاوجود لها
لكن التصور يتعامل مع اشياء حقيقية
ونحن فى الحياة الروحية لانتخيل بل نتصور واحساسينا الروحية تنفتح على الواقع الروحى ، متصورة اياه ؛تعيشه على المجال الروحى (لا تتخيله)
لان التأمل ليس يوجا يعمل فيها خيال من يمارسها ويعيش فى الأوهام الابليسية انما التأمل هو يدخلنا الى الحياة الروحية لانه يتم بفعل الروح القدس

التأمل ليس هو الخيال ، فنحن لا نتخيل إنما نرى ما لا يُرى بعين القلب الداخلية وترتسم صورة الله في الذهن ، فلا خيال في التأمل على الإطلاق ، إنما الروح القدس يقدس خيال الإنسان فيتحول من شكل الخيال إلى حالة التصور ، لأن الخيال في الأشياء المادية يسمو بها في الفكر العميق ومن خلالها يتصور اشياء يعبر عنها في حياته الواقعية ويحاول تحقيق حلمه الذي يدور في خياله الخاص ....
أما مع الله الموضوع يختلف : ( Contemplation )
التأمل ( التاورية باليونانية ) هو اختبار روحي ناتج عن التأمل في الحق الإلهي ، حينما يكون القلب في حالة يقظة وانتباه يسميها الآباء ( Sobriety ) ( الرزانة ) ، أي تكون النفس غير منشغلة بشيء آخر غير التركيز في الله بالصلاة وقراءة الكلمة ، حيث يكون القلب في حالة يقظة وانتباه يسميه الآباء ( Attention of the heart ) ، وهذا هو أساس التأمل الذي يؤهل الإنسان لاستقبال الحق الإلهي والتأمل فيه ، والذي برهانه هو حصول الإنسان على التمييز في التعليم وكل الأمور والتصرف الحسن والحكم على الأمور روحياً برؤية واضحة في الذهن ، وهذا يُسمية الآباء الإفراز ( The faculty of discernment ) .
يقول القديس غريغريوس الكبير :
[ يتدرب العقل أن يحجب عن عينيه أي خيالات وتصورات سواء كانت أرضية أو سماوية ، ويطرد كل الحركات التي تأتيه من خارج أثناء وقوفه للتأمل سواء كانت من جهة السمع أو البصر أو الشم أو حتى التذوق أو الإحساس حتى يتفرغ لأن يطلب نفسه من الداخل كأنه بغير حواس ...
إن أول خطوة هي أن يثوب العقل إلى نفسه وينجمع إلى ذاته ، والخطوة الثانية أن ينظر ذاته مجموعاً مصلوباً خالياً من التصورات الجسدية ، وبهذا يصنع من ذاته سلماً لذاته ليصعد إلى الخطوة الثالثة التي هي فوق ذاته وهي التأمل ]
عموماً يكون الإنسان قبل الدخول في التأمل في حالة رجاء ، فهو يرجو أن يرى ما لا يُرى ، اي الله في أعماق قلبه من الداخل ، فالتأمل ليس مجرد سرحان بالفكر أو تخيل اشياء يتصورها الإنسان من تلقاء ذاته ، أو من خلال أحلامه الخاصة أو تصورات فكره من واقع شكل قصص في الكتاب المقدس وسرحان العقل فيها ليخرج منها حكمة أو قيمة خاصة ليطبقها في حياتة العملية ، وان كان ذلك نافع ولكن ليس هو التأمل المقصود في الكتاب المقدس ولا عند آباء الكنيسة ,,,,
يقول الأب يوحنا الدرجي :
[ لا تتسرع إلى التأمل طالما هو ليس وقت التأمل . حتى يأتيك هو ويضبطك وأنت في جمال التواضع ليتحد معك إلى الأبد بالروح للطهارة ]
